Aristeide Theodoropoulos
b.1979 Athens, Greece
Aristeide’s practice unfolds at the threshold between matter and idea. Rooted in painting and film, his work disassembles natural materials—sand, pigment, limestone, wood—returning them to elemental states before recombining them into new constellations. These processes are not simply technical but metaphoric, staging a dialogue between origin and transformation.
In his approach, painting becomes less an image and more an encounter: a surface where the physical and the philosophical converge. The material resists, absorbs, and exceeds intention, offering a language that is both literal in its substance and expansive in its thought. Through this interplay, Aristeide explores how the act of making can open space for reflection on presence, objecthood, and the shifting boundaries of perception.
